2020 will go down as one of the darkest years in modern history.  Every sector of society has been adversely effected, especially the church.  But the name of the Lord is a strong tower and the righteous run in and are safe.  While we are not able to meet face-to-face for the entire three days, we will meet virtually on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 9:00 AM (PST) with the objective of readying ourselves for better and greater in 2021 and beyond.

ON YOUR MARK, GET SET…GET IT RIGHT FROM THE START
So much has changed since many churches / ministries were started 20, 40, or 60 years ago.  From a business / operations standpoint, starting a church takes planning and can be a bit challenging. Besides being a non-profit, religious entity, does the church also need a 501(c)3 designation? Who owns the property where you are attending services? Is your church operating according to IRS guidelines? Did your church receive a PPP – if not, why not? 
 
Learn: the basics for church operations and strict requirements by the IRS in this present time; the possible reasons why your church may not have received “PPP” funds;  when you need to have a permission to propagate worship songs and lyrics; why knowing who owns the church property is extremely important.  Remember, “This is not Your Daddy’s Church Anymore”.

Now that your church will hopefully set up or update the business and operations protocols, what about the pastor’s compensation? Did you know that many pastors are not adequately compensated? This may be the reason many also work a secular job. In these sessions, you will learn: How the IRS views pastors (employees or self-employed), other important components of compensation such as Car Allowances, Health & Life Insurance, Tax Free & Tax Deferred Annuities, Expense Reimbursement, Retirement Planning, The Housing Exclusion, IRS Form 4361, Appreciations and Honorariums income –  are they reportable and taxable?
 
Learn: how the IRS views pastors and ministers – as employees or self-employed (W2 or 1099); how the local church can compensate the minister in several and affordable ways (Car Allowance, Life and Health Insurance, Retirement funding); how the Housing Exclusion can save tens of thousands on taxes; how opting out of paying Social Security may be a benefit; if honorariums and pastoral appreciations are taxable and reportable  Again, “This is not Your Daddy’s Church Anymore”. 
Raymond D. Baker – Tax and Financial Accountant

Minister Raymond D. Baker was raised in Fort Worth, Texas and received his primary education in the all black community of Lake Como.

After being a high school drop out for twenty years, Minister Raymond D. Baker received his High School Diploma from San Diego Community College in 1975.  Serving his Country in the United States Navy, Minister Ray Baker furthered his education and earned his Associate of Arts degree in Business Administration in 1977 from Compton Community College.

Just before receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration (Accounting) in 1979, Minister Baker received the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior while on campus at California State University Dominquez Hills and three days later, at Crenshaw Christian Center, he received the baptism of the Holy Spirit (June 1978).

Minister Raymond D. Baker was ordained as a Minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, by Bishop Kenneth L. Green on May 28, 1994 and serves thousands of clergy and families in tax strategies and preparation and teaches courses in business start-ups and financial literacy for young entrepreneurs, churches and the community.

Bishop Erika L. Braxter is the Presiding Bishop of the Sabine Jurisdiction and the and Chair for the 100th Year Holy Convocation Celebration.  While no is certain of the impact of the pandemic, the planning regarding the event venues are in place and Bishop Braxter will be providing up-to-date information on all of the events and festivities that are planned.
