2024 Leadership Conference & Retreat
What You Should Know
Dress / Attire
As this is a professional, business conference, the recommended attire is “Business casual” that is reflective of dress attire in Corporate America. Also know that you want to be comfortable when it is time to mingle, going shopping, and going out to dinner after the daily sessions so feel free to bring tennis shoes and other dress attire that is befitting for leisure.
On Saturday, January 28, 2024, the very popular and enjoyable (along with some trash talking) “CHSC Tailgate Fellowship Gathering” commences immediately after the adjournment of the Leadership Conference – around 11:45 AM. Please wear your favorite NFL Team jersey to this event and sit at your teams table to “represent”. Just don’t wear your feelings on your sleeves because they may get hurt.
Temperature and Climate
The weather in Orlando in January is some of the best you’ll find all year, with average lows in the 50’s and highs in the 70’s. Crowds after the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday through the end of the month are typically some of the lowest you’ll find all year. So, you may want to bring a sweater, a sweat suit, and perhaps be prepared for a thunderstorm or two.
Registration
As with all professional conference, there are expenses associated with providing a venue that is of high standards and with a great atmosphere. And while we have done everything possible in keeping the registration as low as possible, everyone – including spouses – must register in order fairness is ensured for everyone and the conference is not left in a deficit. The registration includes entrance to all session, conference materials, (notebooks, presenter’s papers, “favors”, refreshment breaks (beverages, hors d’oeuvres, etc.). All attendees to the conference will be issued badges which allow entrance/participation to all general and focused sessions, workshops, and forums in addition to enjoying the refreshment breaks.
Restaurants / Attractions
There are plenty of restaurant venues near the Embassy Suites for your pleasure – many within walking distance (up to .5 mile) – but you may want to plan to have transportation in case you decide to venture further.
ICON Park is an entertainment complex in Orlando, Florida. The complex is on 20 acres and has more than 50 attractions including a 400 foot tall observation wheel, a Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum, a Sea Life aquarium, Museum of Illusions, Polynesian Fire Luau as well restaurants, shops and specialty kiosks. Of course, there’s Disney World, Universal Studios, Universal Walk, and Epcot Center.
Airport
Orlando International Airport (MCO) – is approximately 15 min (12.1 mi) via FL-528 E from Embassy Suites, International Blvd (ICON Park). There are plenty of transportation options; however, please make transportation arrangements (Ride Share, vehicle rental, etc.) as soon as possible because the NFL Pro Bowl is the same weekend.
Traffic
Don’t be shocked! Los Angeles, Dallas, Atlanta, Houston, Seattle, San Francisco, and New York City are not the only cities that have traffic. Like any major U.S. city, Orlando is subject to have heavy traffic patterns during the morning and late afternoon/evening hours so allow ample time to and from the airport.
Embassy Suites Reservations / Lodging
Elder Adrian Williams and Supt. Robert Horton have done everything humanly possible ensuring we have the best accommodation at affordable prices. If you are experiencing problems with the dates/pricing from the CHSC Group Reservation URL, please reach out to Elder Williams and he in turn will reach out to the conference manager to hopefully correct any issues. If you did not make your reservation by the cut-off date, we cannot guarantee availability or the group rate; however, the Embassy staff has worked diligently with our staff so please be patient and understanding.
Conference Itinerary
Up-to-date conference activities will be sent via SMS Text before and during the conference and we trust this will not be an inconvenience for you. All presentations will be available for downloading (or email.)
